Garden Design FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What will the design cost?

Designs cost from £500 upwards depending on the size and complexity of the project. We can confirm the costs during our initial visit.

How long will it take to do the design?

Between one and two weeks from our initial visit. We will arrange to visit and present the plans when they are under way.

How long will it take to build the garden?

This depends on the size and complexity of the garden, the weather, and the availability of materials. Assuming all goes according to plan it could be 3 days to 6 months, depending on the project. We can advise of the likely construction time when the design is agreed.

How much will my garden cost to build?

Most projects cost upwards of £20,000, though some may be less if there is a lot of planting, as opposed to paving and 'hard' works. As a general rule a well-designed garden is an investment that will add value to your property. When considering your budget, realistically you need to be prepared to invest between 2 and 10% of the current property value, although that figure depends on the size of the garden, the complexity of the design and the quality of the materials specified.

What happens if my pond leaks or steps fall apart after you have gone?

We will come back and mend it! We build quality gardens to last, so in the unlikely event that any defects appear we will visit and look at what needs to be done. We can then schedule it in for repair as soon as it is practicably possible, and to fit in with any holidays etc you may have planned. We will always aim to minimise any disruption to you.

Can I buy a garden design as a present for someone?

Yes. We can gift wrap our brochures and a letter detailing what is included for you to present, or we can post it on your behalf. The best thing is to call initially and speak to Liz Nicholson, who will ask some questions about the garden and outline a guide price for you.

Can I come and see where you work?

Yes you are welcome to visit us in our Studio. It is best to call beforehand though, to ensure one of us will be here to meet you if you have a specific project to discuss. Otherwise please visit our nursery, which is open weekdays between 7.30am and 4.00 pm.
